FIT-- An Acronym for Fitness
In my college "Fitness and Wellness for Life" class, they taught us about the acronym "FIT" and how it applies to fitness. FIT stands for: frequency, intensity, and time.
Frequency is how often one engages in physical activity. Common wisdom says that one should be active at least three times a week. Anything less than this is not enough.
Intensity is how hard it is to do something. Common wisdom says that one should raise his or her heartrate to 75-85% of maximum. Anything lower is not enough of a challenge.
Time is how long each session lasts. Common wisdome says that one should be active in exercise for at least 20 minutes per time.
So, using these as guidelines, we learned that the basic minimum for physical fitness is 20 minutes at 75% of max heartrate three times a week.
I believe the same can be applied to spiritual fitness, which I'll discuss more in my next post.
